This is an April hike to Stevens Lake and Upper Stevens Lake in North, Idaho. Typically, the trail to Stevens Lake is snowed over until late May each year. Not surprisingly, this was a snow hike, much of it off trail. Undeterred by a bit of snow, Daniel made it to Stevens Lake, and pushed on to Upper Stevens Lake as well. If you have ever wondered what a high mountain trail looks like in April, this should answer your question.
For anyone interested in doing this hike, please be advised that the forest service road leading to the trail head for Stevens Lake is typically snowed in until late May. If you are planning a hike or camp at Stevens Lake, it would be prudent to wait until mid June.
