Bluegrass & Flatpicking Guitar Channel All-Stars (Bryan Sutton, Tommy Emmanuel, Guthrie Trapp, Pat Bergeson & Richard Smith) meet Dr. Dum d'Dum - Folsom Prison Blues.
The original version of this song -- without electric bass -- is a fabulous piece of work. When Bryan, Tommy, Guthrie, Pat and Richard get the groove going, I personally want them to keep it going forever! And the good news is that Bluegrass & Flatpicking Guitar Channel All-Stars' original version is twice as long as this electric bass-powered excerpt. Check out the original at [ Ссылка ]. It inspired me, and that's a fact!
And check out the folks who put together this great session -- the Bluegrass & Flatpicking Guitar Channel. They've got a wealth of great music at [ Ссылка ].
I do believe these two versions of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues have a somewhat different feel. To my ear, this version -- with the electric bass -- sounds more like a cohesive band, and less like a room full of individual star guitarists.
The order of soloists on this excerpt is as follows: Pat Bergeson (who is stellar here), Tommy Emmanuel (ditto), Guthrie Trapp (ditto). And, folks, the most impressive solo of all may be Richard Davis' on the full original version at [ Ссылка ]. These guys were ALL in great form when the Bluegrass & Flatpicking Guitar Channel called!
