The intersection of College Avenue and Clayton Street in Downtown Athens is now a bit brighter.

Four rainbow crosswalks were installed last week to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. The crosswalks are part of ongoing improvements to East Clayton Street and funded by TSPLOST 2018’s Downtown Transportation Infrastructure Project.

The ribbon cutting ceremony - held on October 11, 2022 - included members of the Mayor and Commission, Athens Pride and Queer Collective, the Human Relations Commission, and ACCGov staff.
