This simple tutorial will show you how to make a tessellation starting with a square piece of paper. A tessellation is a an arrangement of shapes closely fitted together, in a repeated pattern without gaps or overlapping.
All you need is some paper, scissors, and tape.
I recently visited the exhibit, "M.C. Escher - Other Worlds" at the BYU Museum of Art and I was so inspired by his work. If you have never heard of a tessellation look up some of his and you will be amazed at what he did with simple shapes and patterns, he created impossible worlds.
Stay tuned for some tessellation tips, tricks, and ideas in next weeks tutorial. Enjoy!
