Here's another Buick Regal variation "G" Body car, and in this clip I'll remissness a bit and also critique and site many an example about these cars /amid all their problems. I'll explain on how we tried to overcome it all, and I'd also add that this occurred / and all happened at the Nations "Flagship Buick Dealership". It was a very trying time, and with all the problems we had after that ... it was our TRYING not to stereotype their bad-legacy (amid all the earlier platforms / and their failures / with amid HIGH failure rate), but, back during this time, things would later "settle-in", and it was THEN that people became more accepting of things, and settled for "what these cars were", and WOULD-BE in their daily go.
MORE: Paint and finish were another HUGE issue, and after that; the many owners we caught trying to "modify" these unique cars / thus exceeding engine design pressures by modifying emission's (a fancy way of saying the cat. converters were straight-piped, after market P.R.O.M's were installed to "re-map" fuel cut-out / and increase Turbo Boost performance etc) ... & that were to us: a NO-NO !.
The higher-ups at Buick would then later order us to VOID any and ALL warranty IF 'they' were caught partaking in such things ... so we DID. We called it: "the Kenny Bell syndrome". Anyway: most of the time we'd warn them, and other times they'd cry n' whine because their warranty's (later-on) were voided by Buick. (esp. when their engines were ruined by racing and rough housing these unique cars). My opinion here: "they were fine and ran like a scared rabbit THE WAY THEY CAME, even spanking Chevrolet's Corvette for that year, but for some that STILL wasn't enough !. ANYWAY: some we'd help, & "others would NEVER LEARN". But later they would and DID "the hard way". $$$$$$ / "busted" ... "and there's was no warranty on a knocking motor". It was an interesting thing to see and work-on this era "G" platformed-car, (and TODAY it's almost laughable right ?) so, have a listen and place yourself back in the day when the excitement, and in some measure: "the disappointment" / ran "full speed". Later: we would drop the Opel line / and Opel Service ... (ANYTHING and EVERYTHING was GREAT at a Dealership level AFTER THAT HAPPENED and Opel was GONE) !.
Back in the day we were a "Detroit 2 Dealer" (anyone remember that ?), and later we were awarded a "top ten / select sixty" Dealership award ... Rusty Jones was the best rustproofing there was, and we'd "blue-corral" / or "Somonez" your car, (when the labor rate was just 28 bucks / hr) !! .
END THOUGHT: "It began with a Sky-hawk's and ended with a Riviera's" (in the Buick line-up) ... "ONE-LINE / ONE-PLATFORM". What a great time it was, and now: (perhaps pretty soon "their" saying?), the era of a thing called a "car", will cease to exist, ... and S.U.V's and electrics will rule the day !.
Who'd of thought !!! "CRAZY" !!!
