India is set to achieve record-breaking foodgrain production in 2025, boosted by a favorable monsoon season. According to the Agriculture Ministry's early projections, kharif (summer) foodgrain production for the 2024-25 crop year is expected to reach 164.7 million tonnes. While this signals a strong recovery, challenges remain in pulses and oilseeds production. Meanwhile, winter crop planting continues to progress steadily, with wheat sown across 29.31 million hectares by mid-December 2024. Overall, the agricultural sector is set for a strong rebound, with growth expectations of 3.5-4% in 2024-25, a significant increase from last year's growth of 1.4%.
