Description:
We live in the era of knowledge-intensive capitalism, and this has major implications for the ways in which states, cities, regions and even supranational political units are spatially planned, governed and developed. In this seminar presentation, I delve into the links between the knowledge-intensive capitalism and geopolitics, examining a range of themes, including city geopolitics and the university as a geopolitical site. Overall, I seek to demonstrate that "knowledge-based economization" can be understood as a geopolitical process that produces territories of wealth, power and belonging.
Speaker: Prof. Sami Moisio (University of Helsinki)
Chair: Ugo Rossi (GSSI)
The seminar will take 2 hours (presentation + Q&A)
