The largest military exercises to take place in Taiwan in five years continue on the outlying island of Penghu. President Ma Ying-jeou observed the exercises on Wednesday morning, saying that they should ease people's concerns that Taipei had neglected its defense systems. An enemy attempts to land on this beachhead as nine Thunderbolt 2000 multiple launch rocket system vehicles see their first live fire action in the Han Kuang exercise. This homemade rocket system was developed by the Chung-shan Institute of Science. The Army deployed the AH-1W Cobra helicopter which demonstrated its live fire capabilities.
