Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains on the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. These are your diamond pattern style chains, so it's gonna give you a lot of a smoother ride compared to your ladder style tire chains. It has these bridges right here that break the ice and the square D-links give you really good traction in deep snow. So I do like the ratcheting style self-tensioning system. Once we got it on here, it's not gonna go anywhere until we take it off. I just did not like the installation process.
There was a lot of configuring to do. So I would actually recommend the Pewag Brenta-C 4x4 Snow Tire Chains. It's a lot simpler and easier to get on your tires. It's gonna do the same job and it's a lot more affordable. To begin the installation process, we're gonna lay out our tire chain and each set of these tire chains has this little screw with a nut and a yellow piece.
They have four on each chain, and with our tire size, the instructions recommended to remove one. And so we already did that, but just to show you, we have these included tools that you are going to put on one side. And then the other side, you are going to unscrew counter-clockwise. So the next thing you have to do is find out the right lug nut size for our tire size 225/65/R17. We found that the size 19 worked the best, but with the shortest bolt and the shorter spacer as well.
So moving forward. Man Another thing that gets us such a--This is how it attaches. Man And there's not a whole of distance between--And we found that putting, we found that by putting this on first, any lug nut, really, it just made tightening it a lot easier. So the next thing you have to do is drape this over our tire here. There we go.
Then now we are gonna tighten the lug nut. One really cool feature about this tire chain is that there is an audible click once you've tightened it as much as you should tighten it to let you know that you are done. So once that's on there tight and these are in position, we have a ratchet right here that we are gonna pull until we see the red part of the lanyard. So now we're just gonna hop in the vehicle, roll over it. And so now we're just gonna take the rest of it and put it behind the wheel.
