Sarah Schlesinger, Barry Coller: On Thursday, December 12, 2013, Parents & Science held its 'Science 101 for Parents' Fall Evening Program, entitled An Ounce of Prevention: Vaccines and Your Child's Immune System, at The Rockefeller University. This event featured RU's Sarah Schlesinger, M.D., Senior Attending Physician and Associate Professor of Clinical Investigation. Dr. Schlesinger described in lay terms the development and benefits of vaccines—particularly for young children— and displayed to the audience the efficacy of many common vaccines in eradicating many previously life-threatening diseases, such as smallpox.
