A Portlander named Randy Philbrick parked his car illegally across the bus and bike lane on SE Division Street and 112th on Friday, June 30th. It was part of his protest against the changes to the street that are not yet one year old. Philbrick is a former EMT who has been active on Twitter under the name Portlanders For Positive Impact. He says the new lane configuration on Division is unsafe and he thinks the City did not listen enough to opposition to the design.
As you can see in the video, he brought a gun with him. Prior to the protest, when a counter-protestor rolled up on Philbrick's car, Philbrick grabbed a gun, but he did not point it at the counter-protestor.
There were about a dozen counter-protestors who showed up with signs supporting the bike lanes.
