A 45-year-old pedal cyclist succumbed at the Leonora Cottage Hospital on Tuesday, hours after he was struck down on the Hydronie Public Road, East Bank Essequibo. Dead is Lloyd Garraway, a resident of Parika, East Bank Essequibo. Garraway was allegedly struck down by a speeding motor car, bearing registration number PAD 3432. The incident occurred around 02 in the morning Monday and Garraway died hours later at the Leonora Cottage Hospital. The driver, who has been identified by the Police as 21-year-old David Simon Isaacs of Peter Street, Parika, East Bank Essequibo, is said to be assisting with the investigation. Police Headquarters said the car collided with Garraway who allegedly rode across the road in his path. At the time, Police said the driver was speeding. Garraway fell onto the road surface and sustained injuries about his body. He was picked up in an unconscious condition and transported to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was admitted as a patient and subsequently died. Police said the driver was subject to a breathalyser test but no trace of alcohol was detected. The News Room spoke with the dead man relatives who said they are demanding justice. They alleged that the driver was drunk at the time of the accident and expressed frustration about the manner in which the police are handling the investigation.
