The B-36 was a post second world war developed bomber aircraft designed to strike with a nuclear payload anywhere in the world. The aircraft were named "peacemaker" because of the intended roll as a nuclear deterrent; however, this name was never made official. These aircraft never fired a shot in anger and were in service with the USAF for 10 years, before the technological boom of the cold war overtook the aircraft, with Beter aircraft such as the B-47 stratojet replacing it.
