Bargain hunters have braved the cold last night and queued for almost 24 hours in anticipation of getting a special 'Golden Envelope' at the opening of the new Aldi store in Salford, Greater Manchester. One man set up camp at the Irlams o' th' Height supermarket at 9 a.m. yesterday morning and at 8 a.m. today was handed a 32 " HD plasma TV for his commitment. Liam McDonald, 30, a worker at rival supermarket Morrisons said he had been shopping at the discount supermarket for around three years, despite working for its competitor. Customers first through the door had been promised a 'golden envelope' with shoppers bagging vouchers worth £100, £50 and £20.
Around 150 people were in the queue with eight dedicated shoppers spending the night with some even putting up tents
