Heller wrote three sets of pieces with the title 'Im Walde' (or 'In the Woods'). This set has seven pieces, and a YouTube member informs me that Benjamin Godard orchestrated this piece and No. 3.
I have posted this piece to give a taste of Heller's work other than studies and preludes. I bave an idea that some editions give it the title 'sous la feuillée'. Although this is an attractive piece and worth hearing, it is quite long-winded and contains a fair amount of repetition of ideas - a feature of Heller's longer pieces, and perhaps the reason they are seldom played. I have seen a comment somewhere that Heller's aesthetic as displayed in the 'Im Walde' sets has similarities to that of Bruckner.
