A video showcasing the obvious differences between a mainline registered locomotive and a fresh out of the box new build in the form of 6880 'Betton Grange' which was the star visitor for the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway Cotswold Festival Of Steam Gala. The differences in this video show a steam locomotive running at 65mph + but you lose the authenticity with the diesel on the back (which was not assisting in these scenes) and on the other hand you hand you get the joys of a steam loco running without a diesel albeit meandering at 25mph on a level gradient on a private railway, but both scenes are equally pleasing in their own way.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend the GWSR for their gala due to work and other commitments but I did find half a day on the Sunday to capture 5043 on the Shakespeare Express which was swiftly followed by an quick trip over to the Cotswolds to see the new build Grange class on its maiden steam gala. The Great Western Grange is still in the early stages of running in so we'll have to wait a bit longer to see it opened up ! The video finishes with 5043 storming along between Tamworth & Burton On Trent on the return leg of the Shakespeare Express.
I hope you enjoy the video.
