Russia is the only country that operates nuclear icebreakers. Rosatomflot (a subsidiary of Rosatom) operates 4 nuclear icebreakers. We also plan to start construction of a new generation icebreaker Leader, that will have power capacity of 1200 MW, i.e. twice more than those built today. Cargo shipping in Russia’s northernmost territorial waters is expected to exceed 80 million tons as soon as 2024.
