Sorry for the delay on uploading this week, had some technical problems.

The Rochdale canal with its 91 locks, allowing vessels of 14ft wide to pass through, runs for a total 32 miles (51km) between Castlefield basin in Manchester to Sowerby Bridge near Halifax, completed in 1804 being used for commercial use and about 50 boats a day by 1880, but the last loaded barge travelled its full length in 1937 and from then on fell into disrepair, and closed in 1952 and later restored in 2002, is part of the connected system of the canals of Great Britain. The canal refers to Rochdale through which it passes and is used almost exclusively for leisure purposes.
