Energy Minister Angus Taylor says the manufacturing sector is “resurging in Australia” as over 90,000 jobs have been added in the industry in the past three months.
“More than a million people again employed in manufacturing, we haven’t seen that for ten years since Labor was in power, since the carbon tax was put in place,” he said.
Mr Taylor said one-third of Australian manufacturing was done in Melbourne, and it had ramped up to “replace imports, create new markets” as businesses bounce back from the pandemic.
“This is Australian businesses leading the recovery,” he said.
