Today we are at Mile End station in East London, which is a major interchange between London Underground’s Central line and the District and Hammersmith & City lines.
The station is the only subterranean station that provides a cross-platform interchange between deep tube trains (Central line) and the subsurface network (District and Hammersmith & City lines).
It originally opened in 1902 as part of the Whitechapel & Bow Railway, and the Central line reached the station in 1946.
With the Central line providing a train in each direction every 1–2 minutes and frequent service on the District and Hammersmith & City lines, this is an excellent station for trainspotting.
Enjoy!
