China may be leading the pack when it comes to amphibious vehicles, and this latest reconnaissance variant may represent the cutting edge when it comes to China's shore landings—and may just be ahead of the United States Marine Corps' amphibious vehicles.

Although amphibious, the latest Type 05 variant appears to have more of a ground reconnaissance role than its predecessor—and is still arguably better than the Marine Corps amphibious vehicle.
