Don't have your silent auction going at the same time as your live auction is going. This is an all to common problem sadly. You want to make as much money as possible at your event so you attempt to leave your silent auction going the entire time your live auction is going. This creates unorganized chaos. Guests are trying to pay attention to the live auction but are running back to see if they have won a silent auction item. You might also stifle bidding of your live auction because bidder are not sure if they have enough money to bid on a live auction item since they also bid on silent auction items that have not closed yet. As you can see it's a bad idea all the way around to have a live auction going at the same time as a silent auction. Avoid this at all costs!
