Finally understand levels of measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio-level data (abbreviated NOIR). In statistics, numbers (a) help us create categories, or (b) help us measure something. Categorical variables can be either ordered categories (ordinal) or unordered categories (nominal). Categorical variables are also called qualitative variables. The measurement variables use scales with equal intervals on the scales. We distinguish these scales by whether they have a meaningful zero point (ratio) or not (interval). Both interval & ratio are “Scale data”, both are quantitative because they tell us how much of the variable is present and they are continuous.
Link to a Google Drive folder with all of the files that I use in the videos including the Bear Handout and StatsClass.sav. As I add new files, they will appear here, as well.
