When people describe Greg Nelams most people say, he was positive, he had a hip-hop style, and he could really draw! Art therapist, Amy Bucciarelli, worked with Greg during his hospitalization to help him express his experience and cope with hospitalization through the media he loved -- Art. When Amy learned how much Greg loved graffiti, Arts in Medicine was able to introduce Greg to artist Evan Poirier who shared his love. Together they worked on graffiti characters and ideas for a mural that would become Greg's legacy at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. The bright colors, and the style of the animals in the mural reflect Greg's tag. The mural, that was completed by Evan, is a visual mark that celebrates Greg's life and makes the "Swamp Room" play area a brighter spot for even the most difficult hospital days.
