One of the best things ever put on TV. Mr. T works as a street Santa for charity and meets a boy played by Emmanuel Lewis (Webster) who doesn't have the Christmas spirit. Mr. T takes this kid he's never met before on a series of adventures, by passing him off to a series of random entertainers to babysit him/teach him about Christmas. David Copperfield does magic. Willie Tyler has a ventriloquist dummy (including one that looks like Mr. T). Maureen McGovern sings songs. The Rockettes dance. Finally, Mr. T gives a sincere, moving, really long and confusing speech about the true meaning of Christmas.
Really bizarre. They don't make specials like this anymore. Pure 80's. This aired on NBC in December 1984. Obviously, this is an old VHS transfer, so the quality is sketchy.
To avoid copyright issues during the ice skating scene, I edited in music is by the excellent Vampire Stepdad.
