If you’re planning to stay in Tehran for 2-3 days, go for the card/chip. At the moment the card itself is 5000 Tomans (25 cents) . Then you have to charge it in the same window. For 2 days, 15000(75 cents) Toman credit would be sufficient. By purchasing the card instead of paper tickets you will noticeably save your time every time you enter the metro station and also they are the only kind of payment which are acceptable for the urban buses now.
