"Them!" follows the discovery of a strange series of events in New Mexico, starting with a traumatized little girl found wandering the desert and a destroyed mobile home. The culprits are revealed to be giant, mutated ants, a result of nuclear testing. Federal agents, alongside local police, a father-daughter team of entomologists, and an army general, hunt the ants, killing two in the desert. They discover a nest with more giant ants and queen ants ready to establish new colonies. While the local nest is destroyed, two queen ants escape to Los Angeles. A race against time begins to locate the new nests before the queens can reproduce. In LA's storm drains, they find and exterminate the remaining ants, saving two young boys in the process. The film ends with a warning about the dangers of nuclear power.
