Samaritan's Purse Australia will commission a purpose built Disaster Relief Unit to be used to provide 'second responder' support to communities affected by bushfires, floods, cyclones and other natural disasters.

Based on similar units operated by Samaritan's Purse in the US and Canada, this is the first such unit to be commissioned for use in Australia by any not-for-profit organisation or charity

The Disaster Relief Unit is hauled by a prime mover to wherever it is needed.

"The Australian unit was built in the US to our specifications to make ensure it is suitable for Australian conditions," said Kenneth James, Disaster Relief Manager for Samaritan's Purse, Australia.
