The winning final match at FTC Detroit World Championship. We were in the blue alliance with 8393 Brainstem and 4029 2 Bits and a Byte. We "won" the autonomous stage by 90 points (both red bots missed their center key columns and we were ahead 6-4 in auto glyphs [ Ссылка ]). Our 5-glyph auto worked, but 2 Bits' auto missed putting their 2 extra glyphs in the right column by a few inches, which could have given us record score of 718.
The results could have easily (and likely) been the other way, and we know we were very lucky to end up where we did.
Some note of thanks:
8393 let us use their hotel field for 2-3 hours every night for auto tuning and driving practice together. It was also a great chance to get to know them better as a team. Relationships REALLY matter to us! And they came through with some awesome driving with their fantastic robot in all the elimination matches.
4029 worked incredibly hard to try fixing the disconnect issues they had at ESR and during Worlds qualifications, including working past midnight the evening before the finals, constantly isolating their robot and switching to ferrite cables as soon as we saw the Ford Field static issues, and having the whole team check every inch of the robot over for exposed metal before the match. We knew they would be a great partner after the DC issues were resolved.
11115 Gluten Free and the rest of the Ochoa winning alliance were an inspiration to us the entire season. Gluten Free's amazing and season- dominating autonomous pushed us to go farther than we had planned. The thumbs-up that Peter gave us at the end of the match (3:23) was remarkable sportsmanship. Congratulation to our friends 7182 MP3 for being in the Worlds finals for the second year in a row. Jack of 9971 LanBros achieved so much--truly amazing as a one-man team.
In the 2 hours between Edison Finals and having to pack up to go to Ford Field, Brainstem set up the field in their booth and all 3 of us were able to tune auto more, which helped a lot in the Ford Field Einstein Finals. After seeing the excessive amount of static when we got to Ford Field, we also spent most of the 3 hours of downtime during the finals working with our alliance partners on improving wiring and insulation to avoid disconnects.
