A small, early 17th century oil on copper still-life of roses on the booth of Floris van Wanroij Fine Art stole the heart of Brussels based floral artist Thierry Boutemy. In this video, he shares his thoughts on it.
This year, BRAFA called on Thierry Boutemy to adorn the alleyways of the fair. The Brussels based French florist's simple yet refined designs are inspired by his childhood walks in the countryside, explaining: ‘My work is about lightness, joy, and Romanticism, as the term was understood in the 19th century. I love projects that create a link with what I feel. My idea took root in the summer and grew: I would recapture the wild vegetation that grew in no man’s land. Nobody could get near the space so nature took over, flowers blooming around the watchtowers...’
.
The BRAFA Art Fair, created in 1956, is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious art fairs, famous for the high quality fine art, antiques, modern and contemporary art and design it offers. BRAFA takes place from 26 January through 2 February 2020 at Tour & Taxis in Brussels. www.brafa.art
