In today’s video, we’re going to check out some of the particle system effects contained inside of Twinmotion, and how you can use them to add life to some of your renderings!
There are a number of different effects contained inside of Twinmotion that can be used for many things, including simulating smoke, fire, water running, and much more. One of the nice things about these is that they’re already pre-animated and they interact with your scenes without you having to do very much.
For example – let’s say that we wanted to create a campfire inside of a forest inside of Twinmotion – the effects allow us to create this without having to worry about any settings at all.
They’re a bit hidden – to find them, you need to go into your furnitures section and look for the option for “particles.” When you go in this section, you’ll notice a number of different pre-built particle systems. In this situation, we’re going to drag the option over for the “small fire” particle system. Notice that when we do this, this system comes in that’s automatically generating flames in our campfire location.
This particle object we bring in can be rotated and scaled to adjust the strength and size of the effect. One thing to be aware of, however, is that the particle systems don’t really cast light, meaning you’d have to couple them with a light source in order to create any kind of an evening scene.
However, they would, on the other hand, get exported into an animation, so if you’re looking for an animated fire or smoke source, they’re a great fit.
There are also some particle systems you can add that create and add fog to your scenes as well.
If you’re creating a city scene, there are some interesting options as well. I really enjoy what the “drippin water” effect does – not only does it simulate water, but it also makes the material that it lands on look wet as well.
That’s where I’m going to end this video – leave a comment below and let me know what you thought!
