City Introduction and history: Frankfurt is Germany's business capital.
Frankfurt is much more than Germany's main tourist and economic center. It is also a very pleasant city to visit, live and work in. Frankfurt is the largest city in the German state of Hesse.
Centuries ago, Frankfurt was the largest old wooden city in Germany. It is known as the best example of Gothic architecture with semi-circular walls in the country. But a night raid in May 1944 tragically ended all its glory. For years, however, Frankfurt has been planning to rebuild the old town center according to the original plans and restore it to its former glory.
The old city of Frankfurt was once an important commercial and industrial center. Frankfurt Cathedral was the place where German kings and emperors were crowned.
