Police reform in India has been dynamic. With many successes and failures, the journey toward policing policies has been full of learning. This insightful talk by Shri K. Padmanabhaiah shares brilliant insights into reforming the police system in India, and how we can contribute to this reform as a society.
For any reforms to be effective, it is essential that they take root in our political systems. This notion has led the formation of various committees and chairs in India. These committees were tasked with the challenge of preparing a security force for the country that can function as effective law-enforcers today, while being cognisant of the challenges in the future. The other challenge these committees faced was to bridge the gap between the police and citizens, to build a better, brighter future. Not only can policy changes help in reducing the animosity between the two groups, they can also bring about a culture of mutual trust and understanding to create a safer society.
Our topic expert, Shri K. Padmanabhaiah, takes us on a journey through the inner workings of the police force in India and how reforms can improve the lives of all.
