Convert a triangle to sine wave with a wave shaper circuit. Following the development of a function generator, in this episode we go through the wave shaper, an interesting electronic circuit that is able to convert a triangular waveform into a sine wave, that is almost not affected by the operating frequency. This circuit sports an alternative solution to the original idea presented by HP in 1973. In this circuit LEDs and an operational amplifier are used to shape the waveform, and to provide a buffer for the output signal.
While more complex solutions do exist, this circuit has the advantage of simplicity and low component count.
