Lul Tim opened up about an early brush with the law and his complex relationship with gang culture. At 17, Lul Tim was arrested for possession of a stolen gun, a felony that led to his brief incarceration in an adult county jail. Despite the external perception of danger, Lul Tim maintained a positive demeanor, noting that his reputation and connections in the community provided him with a measure of security and respect among fellow inmates. Ultimately, because of procedural errors during his arrest, the charges were dropped.
Growing up in Savannah, Lul Tim lived in close proximity to the Rollin 60s Crips. Although he never formally joined the gang, living in an area associated with it meant that he was often assumed to be a member. He describes this as a consequence of geography rather than choice. The environment was further complicated by the loss of close friends to street violence, a sobering reminder of the harsh realities faced by young men in similar neighborhoods.
