"Lenin's efforts were directed at one thing, to make ideas of justice triumph. This is clear to everybody with the exception of those who have robbed the people, but even they will have to reckon with that."

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of communists and sympathisers brought flowers to Lenin's Tomb at Moscow's Red Square on Sunday to mark the 131st anniversary of the Soviet state founder's birth.
No longer a state holiday in Russia, the date is widely observed by communist and other leftist groups.
While there were long queues to his tomb, not nearly as many as people turned out to pay tribute to the Russian revolutionary as during the Communist heyday.
Still, Russia's communist party chief, Gennady Zyuganov, says Lenin's ideas will remain alive in Russia in the 21st century despite what he calls the onslaught of capitalist ideas.
Lenin has maintained a favourable status among modern Russians, despite the widely-held view among historians that he set off waves of terror and political executions.
