To encourage and cherish the practice of the arts, Bengal Foundation organised the Bangla Sangskriti Utsab, a 10-day cultural festival in Sylhet from February 22 to March 3, 2017. Over 400 poets-writers-singers-musicians-dancers-stage actors-craftspersons-painters performed and engaged in various kinds of programming at the festival, over the ten days.
This rendition of Radharaman Dutta’s song ‘Bhromor koiyo giya...’, by Jayati Chakraborty, was performed on stage at the Bangla Sangskriti Utsab, in Sylhet, in 2017. The artist is accompanied on stage by musician Subir Chakrabarty on the Tabla; Kamal Chaterjee on the Pad; Borun Das Gupta on the keyboard; Subrata Banerjee and Mrinalkanti Das on the Guiter.
Jayati Chakraborty is currently the most popular singer in Bengal. Although an unparalleled exponent of Rabindrasangeet, Jayati is equally adept and popular for her modern and folk song renditions. Her music has won her accolades and mesmerized audiences transcending geographical boundaries. She has more than 20 solo albums and numerous assorted albums to her credit within a short time of launching her career as a singer. She has learnt music from stalwarts like Supriya Ghosh, Jatileswar Mukhopadhyay, Biman Mukhopadhyay, Subhas Chowdhury and Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty.
