Scottish parliament backs new independence referendum
Scotland's parliament has voted in favour of holding another referendum on becoming independent from the UK.
This allows Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to ask British Prime Minister Theresa May for permission to hold the vote.
But May has already refused to discuss it as her government prepares to trigger the process of leaving the EU.
