We spend half a day in the middle of winter hiking to discover some of the best ice formations you will find in David Thompson Country along the Coral Creek. This creek forms short but relatively deep channel that flows into the Cline River and this allows the small water run offs to create these huge columns of ice all around. The area is used by many guides in the area bringing people to ice climb or repelling down to the creek floor which makes for a wildly entertaining day for adventure seekers!
The loop we hiked today wasn't very long, about 8km and had very little elevation gain (less than 250m). The views are incredibly rewarding even with overcast weather and we barely went over 2km/h because we stopped so many times to check out so many cool geological & ice formations. Definitely a place to come check out in the winter if you're looking for something else extra on-top of the Abraham Lake bubbles!
