Finally back with a second yoga class aimed for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This short, 15 minute yoga practice aims to help with focus and concentration skills through building mindful attention towards the body as we move through each posture.
By encouraging breathing in and out, this will not only help create more calmness but will equally in-turn soothe the nervous system. Many Autistic people suffer from anxiety so relaxing the nervous system is crucial to help feel more at ease in this confusing world we live in.
We will do 11 postures + 1 resting posture at the end of the sequence and avoid putting too much pressure by making the class adaptive as well as clearly modelling how to do each pose.
Yoga is a really great way to help people with Autism and other neural development or visual learning disabilities become more aware of themselves and their place in the world, as well of course as experiencing all the wonderful benefits of yoga in body, mind and soul such as: decreased stress & anxiety, increased flexibility, muscle strength, vitality, circulatory health and healthy weight. 🤩
This video can be done at any point during the day. Perhaps best to do it in moments when someone with Autism is already feeling calm and relaxed as it might be more challenging when they're already really stressed out. I personally love doing yoga first thing in the morning to help wake up & energise naturally for the day ahead. 😎

We will move through a sequence of poses that help to ground the body and build strength and vitality. Towards the end we'll phase out with some poses lying/sitting on the ground to build flexibility and induce relaxation before ending in everyone's favourite pose: savasana/corpse pose.
