Getting Started in Beekeeping: 17 - Winter Apiary Visit #Beekeeping Basics - The Norfolk Honey Co.
It's a warm, late February day and the sun is shining again and so I take a trip out of the "classroom" otherwise known as my office to visit one of my apiaries and check up on the bees.
With the weather being so mild it is tempting to carry out a full inspection but there's a chill in the air still and to be honest there is no reason to inspect the bees this early.
I was really pleased to see so many colonies thriving and out foraging and even managed to spot the plants that they were getting all the pollen from, it was hazel in abundance and the bees were really packing it away.
I hope to make some changes to this apiary in the near future by moving out several colonies and dedicating this apiary solely to the National beehive, Keep watching through the season to see how it all takes shape.
