How to repot basil when you buy it from the store or supermarket. I got this nice healthy basil plant from Trader Joes. The same day I transplanted what was once one plant into three nice sized plants to grow in separate containers. This method is foolproof. These are plants after all and have thrived for centuries without intervention. However, there are a few tips to help your basil thrive. I recommend choosing healthiest plants and a few surrounding it to replant. I recommend a fertilizer to go into the bottom of the plant at the roots for added nutrition, be sure to mix it into the soil. Fill with soil only to where the basil was filled in the original pot. Water it in. You will only need to water basil once every few days, when the top soil is getting dried out. Don’t over water basil. Don't over sunshine basil or place in a windy area. Leave these separate containers on a window sill OR two weeks after the last spring frost they can venture into the real world. Get them accumulated to the sun by starting out with two hours sun one day, four the next and next, working up to 7 hours of sunlight a day over a weeks time. Easy peazy. There's nothing better than having your OWN fresh basil from a herb garden or potted plant. This method makes your basil double, quadruple, and more over time if you continue it! This way when you need some you pinch leaves off the top, a couple from each plant and it can easily regenerate. I hope you guys enjoyed this video!
