After Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik tweeted a photograph of Sameer Wankhede's birth certificate and claimed that he is a Muslim who forged his caste certificate to get into the civil services under the SC quota, the NCB zonal director issued a statement.
In his statement, he said his father is Hindu and his late mother was Muslim. He added, "“I belong to a composite, multi religious and secular family in true Indian tradition and I am proud of my heritage... The publishing of my personal documents on Twitter is defamatory in nature and unnecessary invasion of my family privacy."
