LAPD Sgt. Jody Stiger returned to the stand Wednesday, one day after telling jurors that after watching body cam video of the arrest of George Floyd, he thought Chauvin's use of force was "excessive.
On Wednesday he told the court that the restraint of Floyd, which he timed at 9 minutes and 29 seconds, constitutes "deadly force."
But during cross examination Chauvin's attorney Eric Nelson asked Stiger if different police departments may rule differently on what use of force is appropriate.
Stiger responded that all departments he knows of judge use of force based on Graham vs. Connor, which he used to analyze Chauvin's actions. He did agree with Nelson that "reasonable minds can differ."
