Earlier today, Tropical Storm Frank formed in the Eastern Pacific, although the storm still struggles with vertical wind shear at the moment. Some weakening is possible before Frank strengthens in earnest after battling with another tropical disturbance by the weekend. Frank is expected to remain far away from land, and no warnings are in effect.
In the Western Pacific, an area of interest could be gaining traction near the Mariana Islands, and could develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days as it approaches Japan with an extremely long trailing band. The potential storm could affect the Ryukyu islands with typhoon force winds, and move on to the coast of China through the East China Sea. However, the long term forecast for this potential storm remains very uncertain.
In the Southern Indian Ocean, the potential storm which has been tracked for over a week now isn't giving up, with a chance remaining for formation through this week before time finally runs out.
