Fibrosis (NOT cystic fibrosis, which is totally different) is scarring that happens when your body's healing runs out of control. You might have a scar on your body...that's fibrosis....but it's fine....but if you get it in vital organs it can kill you and it's irreversible. It kills more people than cancer or road accidents but there are only 2 drugs for it, both for lungs, and they're not totally effective. This Anglia Ruskin University lab is working on a new technique to blitz the problem - there are worries lung/heart and kidney scarring could be a long term side effect for some people who got Covid-19 badly.
