This is a video showing my morning bike commute from my apartment in the Yonge and Eglinton area, to my workplace which is in the Yonge and Sheppard Area. I ride this route to and from work every day, even in the winter!
This was filmed on February 5th, 2014, which was one of our snowiest days this winter. The snow started coming down around midnight the evening before, and it continued to snow until the mid-afternoon. The morning ride was fairly challenging as you can see from the video, however the ride home was significantly more challenging!
The bike I am riding in this video is a steel framed mountain bike from the late 1990's. It has 26 inch wheels with studded winter tires.
I filmed this using a Contour Roam 2 camera mounted on my headtube. I recorded the audio with a Panasonic voice recorder. I tracked the speed using my Garmin eTrex 30 GPS, and wrote a basic program in Turing to display the numbers on the screen.
I hope you enjoy this video, and maybe it will inspire you to try bicycling to work...in the winter!
