Guru Nanak Jayanti(GurPurab) is celebrated in honour of the birthday of the Guru Nanak, the first guru of the Sikhs. The Akhand paths are performed in gurdwaras before two days of Gurpurab. One day before Gurpurb, a procession is organised with guru granth sahib palki, panj-pyare and shabad kirtan is sung by sangat. The celebrations of gurpurab start early at about 4 to 5 in the morning at Gurudwara, where shabad kirtan is sung by pathis and about 2 p.m. prasad is distributed and langer is organised for saangat. In the night also people do Path of shabad and light diya, candles and burst crackers.
