The Nebraska Medical Center built on its international reputation for liver transplant and surgery to open the Carcinoid Clinic in 2009. It began as a once-monthly clinic for people diagnosed with Carcinoid and other neuroendocrine tumors. Since then, the patient base has expanded and the expertise has grown. Now, people come from all over the US to consult with renowned liver surgeon Dr. Jean Botha. Many of these patients have been told their disease is untreatable.
In this video, Dr. Botha explains how the clinic works and the treatments that are available, such as surgeries such as staged hepatic resection.
