How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Titan Chain V-Bar Tire Chains on our 2023 Jeep Wrangler. Now, when you go with tire chains, especially V-bar tire chains, those are gonna be for your more extreme surfaces. So when you're going across ice, mud, snow, sand, those types of things that affect the traction of your tread, that's gonna give you that additional bite that gets down and keeps your vehicle on course. The Jeep Manual, they said that you should not put tire chains on this guy with the tire size of the 225/75R17. The light truck tires just doesn't give the clearance that they recommend, and they suggest snow socks. However, here at etrailer, we try to take products, put our hands on them, and see how they fit on the vehicle.
And as far as the clearance back here, you got plenty of space where I feel comfortable if you're traveling at the speeds you would have tire chains on, then you shouldn't have any issues as far as getting these on. So as you can see underneath the Wrangler, there's plenty of space for your chain to move freely. I don't see any spaces where you would get caught up, or hung, or damage anything, as long as you're traveling at appropriate speeds for tire chains. Moving up to the top of the tire, we're gonna look at the tread, and this is where you're gonna see your ladder pattern with the twisted links that have the V-bars on top. What the V-bars do for you, they're gonna actually bite down into the surface of whatever you're traveling over, ice, snow, mud, and get you that additional traction.
Ladder-pattern chains usually are recommended when you're going down straight shots. They're gonna give you nice stability going down curves, but you just wanna make sure you're monitoring your speed. The way that these guys are constructed, they're all linked together from the center chain link. Down here, you're gonna take notice to our assisted tensioner. That's going to help get a little bit more of the slack out of the chain to keep it on top.
I always suggest with these tire chains is to get a rubber adjuster 'cause what the adjuster's gonna do, it's gonna keep everything right where it should be to keep that tread on top of your tire. Your tire chains are gonna arrive to your home in this bag here, and it's okay. I usually suggest making a cold weather kit a part of your whole travel bag. So you would want this, some gloves, and also maybe a mat to get on the ground 'cause you actually have to get on the ground to make that connection. So let's go ahead and show you how to get it installed.
All right, so we're gonna start our installation by laying our chain on the ground, or the grass, or any surface, just making sure that you don't have any twist in the links because that can affect how it goes along the tread. And you also wanna make sure that these hooks are on the ground 'cause you want it away from your tire. Now, we're gonna just drape it over the top of our tread, just being careful of our rim, (chain rattling) and just kind of work it to the back. Now, you're gonna get your hook and just work it through the link of your chain. (chain rattling) All right. And we're just gonna go to the front and straighten out our connection. And now, I'm just gonna pull the chain towards the front. I found that pushing the chain back a little bit when you do the installation gives you a little bit more space to work with to make that connection. But after you get that done, just pull it to the front, making sure your ladders are going across the top of your tread. Work out any tangles that may happen. And then from here, you're just gonna feed your. (chain rattling) connection through your link and then secure it with your link here. So, from here, you can kind of see that the chain is still on, but it's still kind of loose. That's why I always recommend having a rubber adjuster. That's gonna put additional tension on the chain to keep it going along the treads. And you just connect that by going one end to the other, and now you're good to go. Now, you can just do the same thing on the other side, roll forward a little bit, and then make any necessary adjustments. Overall, I recommend the Titan Chains because they're a great value. And our neighbors seem t
